MURRAY HATFIELD & TERESA
Canada’s Master Illusionists
In over 2 decades of performing, Murray Hatfield & Teresa have become recognized
around the world as masters of their craft. They have toured and performed in numerous countries including Australia, Cyprus, England, Germany, Israel, Japan, Mexico, New Zealand, Singapore, and the United States, and have been recognized by their peers for their work. In addition to winning a number of major international awards Murray was named “Magician of the Year” by the Canadian Association of Magicians and Teresa was recently named “Assistant of the Year“ for the 2nd time by the Society of American Magicians #95. In November (2008) Murray and Teresa were the subject of a feature article in “MAGIC Magazine”—the largest trade journal for magicians in the world. Their travels in the last year have taken them around the globe from the United States to Italy and all over Canada, with appearances at corporate events, casinos, performing arts centres, exhibitions and a return to the famed Magic Castle in Hollywood. SEAN BOGUNIA
The Yogician
What do you get when you combine magic, comedy, yo-yo’s and a truly magical handkerchief? It’s Sean Bogunia—magician, comedian, creator, inventor and consultant—all rolled up in one.
Sean has performed his very original and funny act on television, in theatres and at major corporate events around the world. In addition to performing he is also the creator of many new magical effects and illusions for other magicians including some of the biggest names in Magic. In competition he has won a number of awards for his work including First Place at the prestigious Abbott’s Magic Get Together—one of the largest magic conventions in North America for over 70 years.

Award winning magician and humorist Oscar Munoz has left audiences spellbound throughout the United States, Korea, Japan, and Mexico. Oscar has presented his special brand of comedy magic to the delight of adults and children of all ages. Oscar blends his unique magical talents with a wry sense of humour and his Hispanic heritage for an act that is unlike any in the world today.
Recognized as one of the top kids’ entertainers in the United States, Oscar has won numerous awards including First Place from the Society of American Magicians as well as the coveted Gold Medal from the International Brotherhood of Magicians. Oscar is also an internationally recognized public speaker with credits including many fortune 500 companies.

CHIPPER LOWELL
Comedic Whirlwind
Award-winning comedian Chipper Lowell has been described as an “artistic cyclone of talent & comedy.” Equally adept at unusual stunts, bizarre magic, dangerous juggling, razor-sharp adlibs, and twisted, original stand-up comedy, he is a truly eclectic fireball of a performer.
In 2005 Chipper was a hit with audiences and sponsors alike when he was a guest on Magic ‘n Miracles for the first time. In 2006, his critically acclaimed stage show—“The Chipper Lowell Experience!”—was extended THREE TIMES for an incredible 12-month run at the Horizon Casino Resort in Lake Tahoe, Nevada. The show earned glowing reviews, and top honours including Chipper being named “Comedy Magician of the Year!” by the International Magicians Society. Chipper has been featured on numerous television programs including the Jerry Lewis Telethon, General Hospital, America’s Funniest People and the Tonight Show with Jay Leno.

Kurtis Preston
Kurtis Preston has made his name as an exciting and explosive dancer on the North American break-dancing scene. He has performed and competed throughout Canada and the United States, winning numerous competitions together with his crew “The Original Rudes”. Kurt and his crew are celebrating their 10th anniversary this year. Kurtis broadened his scope this year by participating in the Edmonton International Street Performers Festival and the brand new Canadian edition of “So You Think You Can Dance”. Kurt is pleased to be back for his fourth straight year with Magic ’N Miracles!

Alexandra Basi
Alex was born and raised in Victoria where she started tap dancing at the age of three at Janice Tooby MacDonald Dance Studio. Soon she began adding jazz, jazz funk and hip hop to her studies which led her to win many top awards in festivals and competitions. In addition to performing, Alex also shares her skills and knowledge with students, teaching tap, jazz, jazz funk and hip hop to all ages at several dance schools in Victoria. She is well known by her students for her exuberant passion and love for dance. This is Alexandra’s first appearance in Magic ’N Miracles.

Magdalaina Tamasik
Magdalaina was born in Calgary where her parents were involved with the Calgary City Ballet. They later moved to Powell River where Magdalaina began studying ballet and jazz at her father’s studio, Lazlo Tamasik School of Dance. After moving to Victoria in 2004 she added training in hip hop and modern dance. Magdalaina has performed at clubs, fashion shows, stage shows and with “The Industry”, a hip hop/jazz group. Magdalaina is performing in Magic ’N Miracles for the first time.

James Jones
Originally from the tiny community or Steen River, Alberta, James
Jones started out at the age of six as a rap dancer. After moving to Edmonton at age nine, he started training in break-dancing, gymnastics, hip hop, and his cultural men’s fancy dance. For the next eight years he travelled to almost every major city and native community in North America performing, teaching and sharing his love for dance with his people. He has danced for artists such as Shawn Desmond, Rascals, In Essence, Choclair, Maestro Fresh Wes, Genuine, and Snoop Dogg. He is excited to be appearing as part of Magic ’N Miracles for the first time.
